Background

Hi, I'm Erika, born and raised in Lima, Peru, I grew up immersed in music, dance, sports, and performance arts. I also lived in Ayacucho, and spent warm summers in Ica, and Moquegua.
I'm a traveler and wanderer; most of my adult life has been spent in the southern Arizona desert, with a couple of years of residence in NYC. I am a University of Arizona graduate, where I studied Communication and Theatre Arts
My dance education includes master teachers from Peru, Brazil, Africa, Cuba, and the US. I also train, and perform with, pioneer circus theatre & pyrotechnic troupe, Flam Chen.

Artistic Vision

I love the creative process of dance choreography, and often incorporate elements of traditional dance steps with modern style movement. I tend to lean toward fusion of traditional dances, as an expression of unity and commonality.

Wisdom

Sharing ancestral wisdom through movement and dance is a passion of mine. I have studied traditional, cultural dances for many years and understand their vital role in our balancing and grounding, for maintaining mental, physical well-being.
I honor ancestral culture and allow it to inspire dance and movement that creates a bridge from the old to the new.
